In this season of joyous celebrations, Kettle Art presents Holiday Presence #11, the gallery’s annual art and gift show featuring small works and unique, artisan-crafted pieces made exclusively by local artists.
The exhibit runs through December 24. Watch for special announcements throughout the exhibit, artists collaborating on-site, updates on new items, impromptu parties, and extended hours.
Artists include Richard Ross, Judith Lea Perkins, Brad Albright, Steve & Erin Reeves, Clint Scism, Miguel Aguilar, Jennifer Gregory Portz, Micah Rabalais, Justin Clumpner, Frank and Amber Campagna, Nick Glenn and more, with most pieces $100.00 and under. In light of the holiday gift-buying season, all pieces are cash (or charge!) and carry.

The Instigators: Celebrating 10 Years of Kettle Art
Please join us on Thursday, November 5th, 7:00 – 10:00pm for the opening reception and celebration of our support of local culture over the past ten years.
Call them what you will: rabble rousers, provocateurs, radicals, or champions. The art world has always needed them, and Dallas is no exception. In November of 2005, a small group of unrepresented artists joined forces to open Kettle’s doors, while simultaneously launching careers that have helped to illuminate the rich and vast array of talent our city has to offer. Co-founder Kirk Hopper served as art consultant and financial adviser before establishing Kirk Hopper Fine Art in 2008, also located in DeepEllum.

Conceived by artist and muralist Frank Campagna as a two-pronged concept, the gallery’s mission was to 1) offer opportunities for regional artists and patrons alike to experience art in a casual and supportive atmosphere, and 2) return the Deep Ellum neighborhood back to its artistic roots.
With this goal in mind, Kettle has proudly collaborated with organizations and arts groups across the North Texas region such as the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, American Society of Media Photographers Dallas, Art Conspiracy, Art Hash, ArtPlace America, Cykochik, D Magazine’s Big D Reads, Dallas Art Dealers Association, Dallas Association of Young Lawyers, Dallas Observer, Dallas Video Festival, Deep Ellum Arts Festival, Deep Ellum Community Association, Deep Ellum Wine Walk, END Design, Folksie/Make Shop & Studio, Instant Film Society, Lollipop Shoppe, Lone Star Wind Orchestra, Naked Girls Reading, Observe Dallas, Shag Carpet, The Sixth Floor Museum, The Urban Fabric, TunnelVisions, Wordspace Dallas, and the 45 Suicide Prevention Fund, as well as hosting performances by numerous musical acts, including the Deathray Davies, Telegraph Canyon, Unconscious Collective, Whiskey Folk Ramblers, Yells at Eels, and many more.

Kettle Art Gallery presents Summer Salon.
As opposed to hosting traditional ‘art exhibits’ throughout the Summer months, Kettle Art Gallery is trying something a bit different this time around. Kettle will be hosting one massive, ever changing show that is spiced up weekly with various unique events, such as concerts, drawing classes, spoken word nights, film nights, wine walks etc. This exhibit opens Saturday, 6 / 20 and runs through ?

Kettle Art proudly presents ‘Artpocalypse’ a four man show featuring works by Richard Ross, Clay Stinnett, Mattson Plummer, and Johnny Hawkins, opening Thursday, August 21, 2014, 7:00 – 10:00PM.
From Ross’s whimsical, mythology-based social commentary, to Plummer’s graffiti-inspired street art characters, to Stinnett’s humorous pop imagery with a Texas twist, to Hawkins’ depictions of man vs. animal, all four artists are linked through the use of impassioned, thought-provoking symbolism, and are delighted to cross-pollinate their diverse and devoted fan-bases in this dynamic exhibit.
Richard L. Ross formed his artistic voice during the chaos of the early Dallas punk scene. His metanarrative series “The Road to the Store” is based on the Kantian concept that beliefs derive from the question “What can I hope?”, with a symbolic cast of characters portraying the disorder and uncertainty experienced along life’s journey.
Clay Stinnett’s work explores relationships between humorous motifs, pop imagery, and iconography, representing a personal definition of beauty and truth as the synthesis of story-telling, shocking humor, and horror within a post-modern forum.
Mattson Plummer’s latest series focuses on engaging his Dallas and Austin audiences in a scavenger hunt for his works via Instagram. Plummer’s minimal, small-scale works, created in large numbers, comprise an installation of seemingly similar, yet unique, pieces of a whole.
Johnny Hawkins is a graphic designer with a focus on digital design theory that trickles its way into his paintings. Lately, he has been exploring the conflicting interests of animals and men. ARTPOCALYPSE will be his first gallery show as a featured artist.
Please join us for the first exhibition ‘Phoenix’ in our new location, at 2650-B Main St in Deep Ellum. As declared back in April, when time was running low at our previous home, this would be the day we re-open. Thanks to the massive amount of people who believed in both our mission and target date, this proclamation is about to become true.
Since Kettle Art opened in 2005 we’ve given countless emerging and established North Texas artists a place to express themselves and show their works without inhibiti…on or restriction. We look forward to continuing this tradition at our new home as well.

Jubilee – a gallery retro-spectacle
April 18 – May 4, 2013.
Kettle Art, in it’s present location, will be closing Saturday, May 4th, promptly at 10:00PM. Before we go, we plan one final ‘blow out’ exhibit of sorts, ‘Jubilee’ a past, present & future retrospect. This show will feature many of the talented artists we’ve been fortunate enough to have grace our walls over the past 8 ½ years. Expect to see one current piece, from each from this list of who’s who, in Dallas area …artists / photographers.

This can be seen as the end of an era but should be considered a new beginning. News of our new location will come in August in regards to our re-opening in September. Please rest assured this is a giant step forward.
“The road to the store” is a simple incomplete sentence that Richard Ross kept typing over and over while sitting alone in a cubicle somewhere lost in a postmodern work place.
Why did he type it?
What did it mean?
It seemed an easy statement that flowed as he typed. At first, it had no meaning at all. It was just the words; “the road to the store”, “the road to the store”. Over and over, he typed them.
“The road to the store”.
What could that mean?
We go to the store to get what we want, and need.
As in life, we work towards something; some end that we want, need, or hope to accomplish.
In life, we are on a road to a store.
