Holiday Presence 10

On Thursday, December 4th from 7:00pm to 10:00pm, Kettle Art Gallery proudly presents their tenth annual holiday gift show “Holiday Presence 10” featuring small works and unique, artisan-crafted gifts made exclusively by local artists. Works by Judith Lea Perkins, Brad Albright, Monica Moody, Johnny Hawkins, Emily Hawkins, Clint Scism, Megan Petasky, Clay Stinnett, Sarah Zamora, Michael Francis, Jody Pham, Cabe Booth, Corey Godfrey, George Wallace III, Michelle Marie, Richard Sharum, Cheryl Baker, Justin Clumpner, Jennifer Lafleur, Brian Crawford, Darlene Schaper, Larry Carrey, Patricia Rodriguez, Nick Glenn, and more will be featured. Most pieces will be available for under $100.00.

Kettle Art Gallery began its mission in 2005; a year that also introduced Art Conspiracy and The Lollipop Shoppe. There must have been something in the air that year as these three preeminent showcases have all evolved into forces with which to be reckoned. From the very beginning, Kettle has maintained two overall objectives: to offer local creatives a place to exhibit; and to rejuvenate the artistic roots of the Deep Ellum neighborhood. Throughout the years, Kettle has hosted over 140 exhibitions, in various media, featuring only North Texas artists. This averages out to one show every three weeks, with over $200,000.00 going directly into the pockets of local artists.

Join us during “Holiday Presence 10” as Kettle enters their tenth year of celebrating the amazing local artists who make our art scene one of the most vibrant in the country!

This Thursday, October 16, 2014 Kettle Art proudly presents extremes in photography with two openings in one night!

Justin Terveen will unveil ‘New Works’ in Gallery A, featuring recent ‘Dallas Heavy’ photographs and more.

Justin Terveen : New Works

Few artists have captured the beauty of a cityscape, or the hearts of adoring fans, quite like photographer Justin Terveen has done in Dallas.

Terveen’s breathtaking images of the skyline are found within countless blogs and publications across the internet, and in numerous private and corporate collections. When USA Today’s readers voted Dallas as Readers’ Choice for 2014 Best International Skyline, it was due in large part to Terveen’s iconic images.

Richard Andrew Sharum‘s ‘In the Heart’ featuring street photography from around the world, opens in Gallery B.

Richard Sharum

Richard Andrew Sharum debuts his compelling series documenting the often obscure landscape of urban spaces around the world and the inhabitants of these areas. Sharum’s images depict the contrast between flesh and architecture, the fragility of life juxtaposed with formidable concrete structures, and the light that both illuminates and deepens the shadows between them.

In recognition of Sharum’s work on the series abroad, he was selected among international applicants for the Magnum Photos (Paris) Masterclass with Jonas Bendiksen during HOST at FOTOGRAFIA EUROPEA 2014 in Reggio Emilia, Italy, and for the Magnum Photos (New York) Masterclass with Moises Saman and Abbas in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Both resulted in public exhibitions of his work in each respective city.

In Summer of 2014, Sharum launched “Observe Dallas”, a public installation project aimed at encouraging observers of anonymously placed photographs within the Downtown area to interact with their surroundings in unique ways.

Shot In Dallas

Kettle Art proudly presents Shot in Dallas, an exhibit of nine area media photographers. You’ve seen their works in Time, Texas Monthly, Rolling Stone, Dallas Morning News, Dallas Observer, Pegasus News, and many other media sources, but this show offers insight to what the folks behind the camera actually like to capture on their own. The exhibit features personal works of interest by Justin Clemons, Guy Reynolds, Alexandra Olivia, Jason Janik, Justin Terveen, Catherine Downes, Rex Curry, Robert Hart, and Richard Sharum.

The exhibit opens Thursday, November 7, 7:00 – 10:00pm in Gallery B of the new Kettle Art, located at 2650-B Main Street in Deep Ellum. This show will run concurrently with “That 60’s Show” through Saturday, November 29.

PhoenixFlyer

Please join us for the first exhibition ‘Phoenix’ in our new location, at 2650-B Main St in Deep Ellum. As declared back in April, when time was running low at our previous home, this would be the day we re-open. Thanks to the massive amount of people who believed in both our mission and target date, this proclamation is about to become true.

Since Kettle Art opened in 2005 we’ve given countless emerging and established North Texas artists a place to express themselves and show their works without inhibiti…on or restriction. We look forward to continuing this tradition at our new home as well.

Thank you all!
