Do you just do exhibits, or do you host art events as well? I've got an idea I'm toying with, and a gallery in Deep Ellum would be perfect for it, I think. I've modeled for drawing and painting classes since 1984, and I wouldn't have kept at it all these years if I didn't absolutely love it. I see ads and articles about life drawing marathons and big figure drawing events in other cities like San Francisco and New York, and I wish something would happen like that in Dallas. I would love to have an event that could kick-start figurative drawing and painting in this area. So my idea would be to do an art-show-opening type thing with me and another model or two posing for the patrons, sometimes alternating, sometimes in tandem. The patrons could come and draw, others could watch and possibly buy drawings right off the easel from those who are drawing. Just make a big party out of it. But the idea would be to promote life drawing. Maybe some of these open figure drawing sessions at places like the Creative Arts Center that only get four or five artists every week will start to draw more, and maybe that will lead to more groups starting up. At least, that would be my hope.
